OSDG team has recently collaborated with SDG Careers, the first-ever curated job board, which allows mapping offers of employment to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The tool allows people to discover purposeful work opportunities online that match their interests expressed through one of the 17 Global Goals.
How does it work? The tool operates on a mixed classification method, using several APIs, including the OSDG API.
Our tool runs the entire vacancy text and matches SDG-relevant content to the most relevant Global Goal. For instance, a quick search for positions under SDG7 (Affordable and clean energy) returns opportunities for solar technicians, renewable energy analysts, carbon capture engineers, and more. The job vacancies are then listed on a board, where users can use filters to find the announcements that match their specific interests.
“We are very pleased with the results the OSDG API provides. We have mapped over 5000 job vacancies with the SDGs using OSDG's API. The results are fast and accurate, and the API was super easy to implement in our fully automated workflow”, says Adriaan Bouman, founder of SDG Careers.
The collaboration with SDG Careers marks another successful collaboration, showcasing the wide range of capabilities of the OSDG methodology.
“We’re always on the lookout for promising applications for our API. It provides an interesting perspective for businesses to evaluate their contribution to Agenda 2030 and towards solving various societal challenges.
We were excited to see Adriaan’s passion to track the SDG footprint in vacancies, and to help new hires deliver positive change”, says Lukas Pukelis, Lead Data Scientist at OSDG.
The OSDG API is available free of charge for researchers and not-for-profit organizations that contribute toward SDG mainstreaming. Want to learn more? Contact us!
